The United States Freediving Association represents US Freedivers nationally and Team USA internationally. We are an assembly member of AIDA (Association Internationale pour le Développement de l’Apnée), the international governing body for the sport of competitive freediving. To be a member of AIDA International, one must be a member of one of their National Associations, in the US that is the USFA.
USFA sanctions all US National Records and competitions, mediates sponsorship for Team USA and promotes safety and participation in the sport of competitive and recreational freediving.
USFA is a federal 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization.
We are a member and sponsor supported organization, headed by an all-volunteer, elected Board of Directors. Our members are comprised of professional and recreational freedivers from around the globe, freedive enthusiasts and supporters.
If you’d like to join USFA, please click here and you will be redirected to our old site. The front pages are not updated, but the membership module works. As an active member, with a $25/ year membership fee, you will be eligible to vote on all AIDA submitted vote requests, you will receive official AIDA ranking for any sanctioned competition dives you complete and you will be a part of a still small community of dedicated freedivers in the US.
You’ll notice that we have a different name: The United States Apnea Association, USAA, as it was once known, is now the United States Freediving Association. We’ve kept our old name for legal reasons, but it’s no longer the name our organization uses.
